Environmental Assessment of Nine Food Can
Manufacturing Plants in Six States
Completed Phase I environmental site assessments
for nine food can manufacturing plants
in the United States. The plants were located in
the states of California, Illinois, Texas, Utah,
Washington, and Wisconsin. Environmental site
assessment work was completed and documented
in separate plant reports within a six week time
period. Site assessment activities identified
recognized environmental conditions on each
property, made recommendations for further
investigations, and presented cost ranges associated
with further investigations. Conducted and
documented an environmental subsurface soil
investigation at one of the California plants.
Evaluated and reported on the applicability and
impact of new California hazardous waste treatment
permit requirements for can manufacturing
plants in California.
